A WORLD WITHOUT PRINT WOULD HIT THE ECONOMY HARD

Well the critics are at it again!

Seems like every three years or so there is someone new on their high-horse trying to convince us that the print industry is dead and digital is taking over. However, those of us in the print industry have to pause and chuckle and set that person straight, which is actually not a bad thing, seeing that it allows us to educate those who would not know otherwise.

I mean really, Imagine a world without print?

Societies would not be able to function, communicate or express themselves. Millions would lose their jobs like the U.S. postal service, which currently employees over 2 million individuals or magazine publishers and or newspaper editors.

The economy would take a major hit as high as a trillion dollars out of the GNP. Bottom line print touches everything.

Ok. Lets not be naive either, yes numbers are declining but not to the point that digital is about to take over print. As far as I know I’ve never seen any digital device sold without packaging and an instruction manual, have you?

How Would We Communicate?

Imagine a print free world for a minute. From business cards to billboards all would disappear and many jobs would be lost, the economy would probably halt because of print’s reach. It would be catastrophic! How would you identify items in a grocery store or know how much a pair of shoes cost without a price tag or a sticker?

The World Would be Dreary

Imagine a world without books Marcus Tullius Cicero said, “A room without books is like a body without a soul.” And let us not forget the printing needed to print photography of our loved ones hanging in our homes. It sure would be a lot more boring and less colorful world if it were not for printing.

Printing is so taken for granted that even things like street signs that need to be newly printed or replaced would not only be difficult to live without but just plain dangerous without print.

Print is Changing – its not leaving

Today’s wholesale printers are adding many more options to their print services that captivate and awe its customers and print resellers. For example, new creative folds, sustainable inks, paper stocks, shapes, luxury packaging, foils, personalization, thicknesses are all about the modernization of print industry as a whole. New print presses have increased their speed & efficiency as well by the use of new technologies.

Print may be decreasing but its not going anywhere anytime soon it’s only getting more creative.
